MakerSpaceNYP Residency Programme
MakerSpaceNYP Residency Program is only open to NYP graduates who have successfully completed formal award part-time/full-time diploma courses.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified within 1 to 2 weeks time for a pitching session. Acceptance into this programme is based on the project scope and requirements, usefulness of the project, benefits to end users, market potential, vacancy available and any other criteria that MakerSpaceNYP may decide to consider.

Terms and Conditions
1) Successful applicants will be called MakerSpaceNYP Residents (MSP-R). MSP-R will be able to access MakerSpaceNYP during its normal operating hours (excluding public holidays and other days reserved for MakerSpaceNYP events/activities).
During term time    : Mon - Fri: 1100 – 2100
During term break  : Mon - Fri: 1000 – 1800

2) Successful applicants will need to place a refundable deposit of $300 before they can use the makerspace. The deposit will be refunded in full within one month after the end of his/her project provided there is no loss or damage to any property of MakerSpaceNYP.  

3) MSP-R will be issued with a temporary access card to MakerSpaceNYP after the deposit is placed. The temporary card must be returned to MakerSpaceNYP after the project is completed. Losing the temporary card entails a charge of $50 for a replacement card and $100 for subsequent losses. The card is strictly non-transferable.

4) Any guests to MakerSpaceNYP must be registered with the Manager of MakerSpaceNYP. Should there be more than 1 guest, the approval of the Manager of MakerSpaceNYP should be sought and prearrangements must be made. MSP-R are responsible for their guests, who cannot handle the equipment in MakerSpaceNYP. The guests can only view and observe, as they are not covered by insurance provided by MakerSpaceNYP. Guests also must not affect the operations of MakerSpaceNYP in anyway.  

5) A designated work space will be provided for MSP-R to work. MSP-R should ensure that the work space is reasonably clean and tidy at the end of each session.

6) Work-in-progress (WIP) can be stored at designated spaces. Although MakerSpaceNYP is kept under surveillance by CCTVs, we will not responsible for any loss or damage of the WIP, or any other material stored or used in the Space.

7) Specific tool boxes for general prototyping work will be set up for MSP-R to use. We are not able to loan tools in the tool room currently. Bringing any tool out of MakerSpaceNYP is not allowed.

8) In order to access the Controlled Access Room and the Fab Lab, MSP-R must attend the certification workshops for both the Controlled Access Room and the Fab Lab.

9) The use of all machines in MakerSpaceNYP is subject to availability. MSP-R can book to use a machine, provided that this booking is made at least 1 week before. Bookings can be made via email to Makerspace@nyp.edu.sg on a first-come-first-served basis. Advance booking of more than one machine in same time slot is not allowed.

10) Usage of the following machines via advanced booking per MSP-R is limited to 2 hours per day, due to their popularity among students:
3D printer
Laser engraver

11) It is the makerspace user’s obligation and responsibility to observe copyright and other IP restrictions.

12) MSP-R must not use MakerSpaceNYP to conduct any illegal activity.

13) MakerSpaceNYP reserves the right to terminate the program immediately if there are any violations in the terms of use.

14) MSP-R shall indemnify MakerSpaceNYP against any damages, losses, costs and expenses suffered or incurred by themselves during the use of MakerSpaceNYP’s facilities.

15) MSP-R must comply with MakerSpaceNYP rules and regulations, which include:
MakerSpaceNYP users shall be responsible for themselves. MakerSpaceNYP does not assume any liability for property loss, injury, or death resulting from any activity.
All users must be dressed properly. Shorts and slippers are not allowed in MakerSpaceNYP.
No food is allowed in MakerSpaceNYP. Only water contained in proper non-spill bottles or containers are permitted.
Facilities are to be left in a clean and tidy state, and all equipment used must be returned to its original place.
Users are to adhere to all rules or warning signs placed at the facility.
Any user breaking or damaging the equipment and property – whether willfully or not –   shall bear the full cost of repair of replacing the damaged property.
MakerSpaceNYP reserves the right to remove unauthorized persons and users who infringe any of the stipulated regulations.
NYP is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is strictly prohibited on the campus including MakerSpaceNYP.
Please treat our staff and duty personnel with respect and courtesy.
Unruly users who are a disturbance to others will be asked to leave the premise.

16) MakerSpaceNYP reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions for the use of MakerSpaceNYP when necessary without any notice.
