CVSS PERSPECTIVES
Overseas Learning Experiences
Why Perspectives?
We want our students to have a sense of ...
Reality
Witness the realities of the world outside their comfort zones.
See the scale of natural landscapes, industry and technology, understanding their impact on society.
Think critically about the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
Relevance
Understand the importance of maintaining relevance in a rapidly evolving world.
Learn how to learn, mastering content, and developing critical thinking skills.
Cultivate a continual thirst for success and excellence to stay ahead of the curve.
Relationships
Build relationships, both personal and professional.
Collaborate and see the value of interconnectedness in future work environments.
Recognise connections between different subjects, events and phenomena for a deeper understanding.
Responsibility
Reflect on their responsibilities to family, society, and the world.
Become active citizens, grounded by purpose, and make positive contributions.
Foster a sense of duty towards serving the greater good and addressing global challenges.
Learning approach
The Perspectives programme at Compassvale is rooted in our Compassvale Integrated Competency & Development Clusters, designed to expand students' horizons by encouraging them to reflect on the similarities and differences between Singapore and the host country. Through a structured blend of pre-trip learning modules, immersive on-site visits, and regular reflections, students will explore global issues and cultural connections. The programme culminates in a capstone presentation, allowing students to synthesise their experiences and hone essential 21st-century skills such as adaptive thinking, cultural and global competence, and effective communication.
What makes Perspectives unique is the complementary series of pre-learning visits to local organisations, businesses, and landmarks, which helps deepen students’ understanding and enriches the overseas experience by anchoring their knowledge in both local and global contexts.

selection process & criteria
We typically receive an overwhelming response for the CVSS Perspectives programme.
As student representatives of the school during the Overseas Learning Experiences (OLE), you must exhibit exemplary behaviour and conduct. Therefore, the selection criteria for shortlisting include areas such as consistency of conduct grade, Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) participation, and disciplinary records.
As part of the selection process, all shortlisted candidates will participate in a group task and interview after the registration and shortlisting process has ended. The group task will simulate what you would be doing during the OLE; e.g., sharing about Singapore, the school, discussions with peers from the partner school, reflections and consolidation of learning, etc.
The timeline and rubrics for the group task can be viewed below:

We have received an overwhelming response for the Perspectives programme. Congratulations to the students who have made it to the next round of selection.
As part of the selection process shared with the students, a group task and interview will be scheduled next Monday, 17 February (HBL Day) at the School Library, which will give participants a flavour of some of the things they might work on during the Overseas Learning Experiences.
Students have been allocated specific interview sessions, and should report according to their assigned times. Please note the following details:
